I definitely have some movie watching to do!
But where do I begin ? Well there is Science Fiction movie releasing next week (well around here anyway) called "Ex Machina" that's got my interest up, so it may be the jumping off point. Anyone who knows me, knows I enjoy some Science Fiction.

The plot synopsis: Caleb, a young programer for the world's largest computer company wins an opportunity to spend a week with the company's CEO at his reclusive mountain retreat. Once he arrives, he founds out he was brought out as an experiment, to interact with the worlds first true artificial intelligence.
(Note: This synopsis, is a hacked up version of one I read elsewhere)
The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikandar, Oscar Isaac and is written and directed by Alex Garland.
This is writer Alex Garland's directorial debut. He is known for writing "28 Days Later", "Sunshine" (an overlooked film) and "Dredd" the 2012 Judge Dredd movie, which was surprisingly pretty good, albeit, extremely violent.
Garland has a nack for a more intelligent Sci Fi, which can be tough to find. Although, there has been some good ones over the past decade. He writes with a very grim, moody style. Just look at the three main movies I mentioned. Not one of them is rainbows and roses, they are cold and gritty. Even still, they are well crafted, with each one having a unique quality to it. Granted, "28 Days later" wouldn't seem so unique now, its been copied one too many times since it's release. But at the time, it changed the game when it comes to zombies and zombie films.
I am curious to see what he does with this subject and also how he fairs as a director. I'm hoping for a thinker, which is something Alex Garland can deliver on when he wants to, "Sunshine" being an example.
Since the movie has come out most everywhere else, there are plenty of reviews up already, but I am trying to stay away from them. I just found out about this movie today, I've only seen the two trailers. I know very little about the film and I want to keep it that way until I see it. Hopefully next weekend I will be posting my own review about it.
